6 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari

The 6 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari is a carefully planned private journey combining three of Uganda’s most rewarding safari destinations in one continuous circuit from Entebbe and back to Entebbe. The safari takes you through Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking, Queen Elizabeth National Park for classic wildlife experiences, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for an unforgettable encounter with mountain gorillas.

This itinerary is ideal for travelers who want to experience Uganda’s primates and savannah wildlife without spending many weeks on the road. The route follows a natural progression through western and southwestern Uganda, allowing you to move from the tropical forests of Kibale to the open plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park before continuing south toward the mist-covered forests of Bwindi.

During the 6 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari, you will have opportunities to track wild chimpanzees, search for elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and other wildlife during game drives, cruise along the Kazinga Channel, travel through the Ishasha region and finally trek into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.

Calm Africa Safaris operates this journey as a private safari, allowing the pace, accommodation level and selected stops to be adjusted according to your travel preferences. The safari begins in Entebbe and concludes in Entebbe, making it especially convenient for international travelers arriving and departing through Entebbe International Airport.

Day 1: Entebbe to Kibale National Park

Your 6 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari begins in Entebbe, where you will meet your Calm Africa Safaris driver-guide and start the journey toward Kibale National Park in western Uganda. The drive takes you through Uganda’s countryside, passing towns, rural communities, agricultural landscapes and the rolling hills that characterize western Uganda.

There will be suitable stops along the journey for refreshments, photography and lunch before continuing toward the Kibale region. As you approach the national park, the scenery becomes increasingly green, with tea plantations, crater landscapes and tropical vegetation introducing you to one of Uganda’s most important primate regions.

On arrival, check in at Turaco Treetops and spend the evening relaxing after the journey while preparing for the following morning’s chimpanzee trekking experience.

Walking through Kibale gives you an opportunity to experience the forest environment while looking out for primates, birds and other forest life. Once the chimpanzees are located, spend the permitted viewing period observing their behavior, movement and interactions.

After the trek, enjoy lunch before leaving Kibale and continuing south toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. The scenery gradually changes from tropical forest to the open landscapes of the Albertine Rift and savannah plains.

Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

After an early breakfast, enter Queen Elizabeth National Park for a morning game drive across the savannah plains. The cooler morning hours provide a good opportunity to search for wildlife while animals are active.

Explore selected game-viewing tracks in search of elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, waterbucks and other plains wildlife. Lions may also be encountered depending on their movements and conditions on the day.

After the morning game drive, return to the lodge for some relaxation and lunch before heading to the Kazinga Channel for an afternoon boat cruise.

During the cruise, watch the shoreline for hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and numerous water birds. The boat safari offers a different perspective of the park and is one of the most enjoyable wildlife experiences on this journey.

After the cruise, return to Enganzi Game Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Ishasha is particularly associated with its tree-climbing lions. Although sightings cannot be guaranteed, your guide will explore suitable areas while also watching for elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs and other wildlife inhabiting this quieter southern section of the park.

Continue through the countryside of southwestern Uganda toward Bwindi. The landscape gradually changes from savannah to cultivated highlands, steep hills and increasingly dense forest as you approach gorilla country.

You will then enter Bwindi Impenetrable Forest accompanied by experienced guides and trackers. Trekking time varies depending on the location and movements of the gorilla family, so the experience may involve several hours of hiking through steep and densely vegetated terrain.

A packed lunch and drinking water will be carried for the trek. Once your assigned gorilla family is located, enjoy the permitted viewing period while observing these remarkable primates in their natural environment.

After completing the trek, return to the briefing point and transfer back to your lodge. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing after the major highlight of your 6 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari.

Why Book This 6 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari?

The 6 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari brings together some of Uganda’s most rewarding wildlife experiences in one carefully planned journey. Instead of focusing on only one national park, the itinerary combines the forests of Kibale, the savannahs and waterways of Queen Elizabeth National Park, the Ishasha sector and the mountain gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

One of the strongest reasons to choose this safari is the variety of experiences packed into six days. You can track chimpanzees in Kibale National Park, enjoy classic game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park, cruise along the Kazinga Channel and finish with mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi. This creates a balanced safari that includes both primate encounters and traditional African wildlife viewing.

The route is also designed to reduce unnecessary backtracking. Starting and ending in Entebbe makes the journey convenient for travelers using Entebbe International Airport, while the progression from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth and then to Bwindi follows a logical circuit through western and southwestern Uganda.

This safari is operated privately, giving travelers more flexibility than a large group departure. Your driver-guide remains with you throughout the journey, allowing suitable stops for photography, refreshments and scenic viewpoints while also keeping the itinerary organized around the scheduled trekking and wildlife activities.

Another advantage is the combination of comfortable accommodation and a practical meal plan. The suggested lodges are positioned close to the main safari areas, reducing unnecessary daily transfers while providing comfortable places to relax after chimpanzee trekking, game drives and gorilla trekking.

For travelers visiting Uganda for the first time, the 6 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari offers an excellent introduction to the country’s diversity. Within one itinerary, you experience tropical forest, open savannah, wetlands, lakes, rural highlands and some of Uganda’s most iconic wildlife.

The safari can also be customized according to your preferred accommodation level, travel dates and specific interests. Additional nights, upgraded lodges, cultural experiences or other Uganda destinations can be added for travelers who want to extend the journey beyond six days.
