After a short briefing, you start the journey north towards Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking. This walking experience gives you a chance to see rhinos in a protected conservation area and adds an important Big Five highlight to the start of the safari.
After rhino tracking, you continue to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park and one of the best places for classic wildlife viewing. On arrival, you check in at your lodge and relax after the drive as you prepare for the next day’s game drive and Nile boat cruise.
After an early breakfast, you head out for a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. The park offers opportunities to see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, antelopes, warthogs, and many bird species. Your guide will follow the best wildlife viewing tracks depending on animal movement and the day’s conditions.
In the afternoon, you enjoy a Nile boat cruise towards the bottom of Murchison Falls. This boat safari gives you excellent chances to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and water birds along the riverbanks. You also enjoy views of the powerful falls where the Nile forces its way through a narrow gorge.
After breakfast, you leave Murchison Falls National Park and continue southwest towards Kibale Forest National Park. This is a long but scenic transfer through Uganda’s countryside, passing local towns, farmlands, rural communities, tea-growing areas, and beautiful western Uganda landscapes.
You will have lunch en route before continuing to the Kibale area. On arrival, you check in at your lodge and spend the evening relaxing in preparation for the chimpanzee trekking experience the following day.
After breakfast, you report to Kibale Forest National Park for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. You then enter the forest with ranger guides in search of chimpanzees. Kibale is one of Uganda’s best primate destinations and is also home to other monkey species, birds, butterflies, and rich tropical forest vegetation.
After chimpanzee trekking, you return for lunch. In the afternoon, you may enjoy the Bigodi Wetland experience, a rewarding nature and community walk known for birdlife, primates, swamp scenery, and local cultural encounters. This adds a softer and more local experience to the primate-focused part of the safari.
After breakfast, you leave Kibale and drive towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. This route is scenic, with views of crater lakes, tea estates, farmlands, and the Rwenzori Mountain region. The journey keeps the safari moving forward through western Uganda without returning to previous destinations.
On arrival in Queen Elizabeth National Park, you check in at your lodge and relax. Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy a short evening game drive or spend the rest of the day at leisure at the lodge.
After an early breakfast, you go for a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is known for elephants, buffaloes, lions, antelopes, warthogs, hippos, and many bird species. Your guide will explore the best wildlife areas for rewarding sightings and photography.
In the afternoon, you enjoy the Kazinga Channel boat cruise, one of the most popular boat safari experiences in Uganda. The channel attracts large numbers of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and water birds, making it one of the strongest wildlife highlights of this 9 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari.
After breakfast, you leave Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive through the Ishasha sector, a beautiful wilderness area known for open savannah landscapes and possible tree-climbing lion sightings. This route gives you another chance for wildlife viewing while continuing south towards Bwindi.
You then proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of Uganda’s mountain gorillas. On arrival, you check in at your lodge near the gorilla trekking sector and spend the evening relaxing as you prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking experience.
After an early breakfast, you transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. You meet the ranger guides, learn the trekking rules, and then enter Bwindi Forest in search of a mountain gorilla family. The trek may take a few hours depending on the gorillas’ location, but the time spent with them in their natural forest habitat is one of the most powerful wildlife experiences in Africa.
After gorilla trekking, you return from the forest and meet your guide. Later, you transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Uganda’s most scenic and peaceful lake destinations. The evening is spent relaxing by the lake after your gorilla trekking adventure.
After breakfast, you enjoy the peaceful morning views of Lake Bunyonyi, surrounded by terraced hills, calm waters, and beautiful islands. Depending on your schedule, you may have a short relaxed moment by the lake before starting the return journey to Entebbe.
