10 Days Uganda Family Safari – Detailed Itinerary
Your 10 Days Uganda Family Safari begins with your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, where you will be warmly welcomed by your professional English-speaking driver-guide. After a short introduction to your family safari, you will enjoy a comfortable private transfer to your hotel in Entebbe for check-in and relaxation.
The remainder of the day is reserved for rest after your international journey. Depending on your arrival time, your family may enjoy the hotel’s swimming pool, gardens or peaceful surroundings. This relaxed introduction allows everyone, especially younger travellers, to recover from the flight before beginning the exciting safari adventure.
Meal Plan: Dinner
After breakfast, begin your scenic journey northwards towards Murchison Falls National Park in a private 4×4 safari Land Cruiser. Along the way, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a memorable guided rhino tracking experience. Accompanied by experienced sanctuary rangers, your family will have the opportunity to observe rhinos and learn about Uganda’s conservation efforts. Participation will depend on the children’s ages and the sanctuary’s safety requirements.
Following the rhino experience, enjoy lunch before continuing towards Murchison Falls National Park. The drive takes you through beautiful countryside, local communities and changing landscapes. Upon arrival, check in at your safari lodge and spend the evening relaxing after the journey, with dinner and overnight in the peaceful wilderness surroundings.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
After an early breakfast, enjoy an exciting morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. Your experienced driver-guide will take you across the northern savannah plains in search of giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, lions, Uganda kobs, hartebeests and other wildlife. The open landscapes provide excellent opportunities for family photography and learning about animals in their natural habitat.
Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation before heading out for an afternoon boat cruise along the River Nile towards the base of Murchison Falls. During the cruise, you may observe hippos, crocodiles, elephants and colourful waterbirds along the riverbanks. The spectacular waterfall provides a memorable conclusion to the day’s adventures before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin the scenic journey towards Fort Portal, travelling through western Uganda’s beautiful countryside. The route takes you through the Hoima region, with views of agricultural landscapes, rural communities, green hills and changing vegetation. Your driver-guide will arrange suitable stops for refreshments, photography and lunch along the way.
Arrive in Fort Portal later in the afternoon and check in at your hotel for relaxation. Known for its beautiful highland surroundings, tea plantations and nearby crater lakes, Fort Portal provides a peaceful overnight stop between Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Park. Spend the evening resting and enjoying time together rather than continuing with another long transfer.
After a relaxed breakfast, depart Fort Portal and continue towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive takes you through beautiful western Uganda landscapes, with views of tea plantations, rolling hills, crater lake scenery and local communities. Compared with the previous day’s journey, today’s transfer is shorter, allowing your family to travel at a comfortable pace.
Upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth National Park, check in at Elephant Plains Lodge and enjoy lunch and relaxation. Spend the afternoon appreciating the surrounding savannah views, relaxing at the lodge or enjoying its available facilities. This peaceful afternoon provides an opportunity for everyone to recharge before the following day’s exciting wildlife activities.

Your driver-guide will help younger travellers identify different animals while sharing interesting information about their behaviour and habitats.
Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation before travelling to the Mweya area for an afternoon Kazinga Channel boat cruise. The channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George and offers excellent opportunities to observe hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and waterbirds along the shoreline. After this memorable experience, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin the journey towards the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a wildlife search through the open plains and fig-tree landscapes, looking for lions resting in tree branches. You may also encounter elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and other savannah wildlife, although sightings of tree-climbing lions cannot be guaranteed.
After exploring Ishasha, continue towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the beautiful highlands of southwestern Uganda. Enjoy lunch along the journey before arriving at your lodge near the Rushaga gorilla trekking sector. Check in and spend the remainder of the evening relaxing in the peaceful forest environment.
